Gaming Keyboards...

Backlights are useless, unless you have to look at your keyboard to press WASD, but then you couldn't really call yourself a gamer, could you? It's nothing but rice, poor rice at that, as all backlights look a lot worse IRL than they do in photos.

Random LCDs sound like fun, but what you're after here is a keyboard. Is that piddly little screen worth the extra money? Dual monitors make more sense.

Extra macro-able keys seem like a good idea at first, but then you realise they're all in awkward places on the board, and too far away from WASD to actually be used quickly.

Apart from these gimmicks, what do gaming keyboards actually offer the user? Nothing. They use the same rubber-dome keys as sub-£10 keyboards, and similar build-quality to boot. My advice is to buy yourself a nice and simple Cherry keyboard, you won't need anything more.

Because everyone knows all you do with a keyboard is hover over wasd permanently

Even if you aren't looking AT the keyboard, out of the corner of your eye you'll get enough to navigate between wasd, typing a message and going back to wasd and thats not always something you can get right every time in the dark. The typing part more than returning to wasd though.

Macro keys and the screen are another thing but the backlight is very helpful at night.

& is a mission to get to work with some games!

Not really, i used to use a Wireless Microsoft keyboard before i got my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard, it's mainly for looks tbh.
