gaming laptop for 1920?

More to the point, are there any laptops around that have 1080p screens? Even then you will not get the performance anywhere near a £500 desktop from it. I imagine such a laptop would a) have a very short battery life, b) be huge and c) weigh a ton.

i have a 4870x2 and watercooled Q9550 at 4GHz right now.

taking to to and from uni to home, and to LANs is a pain, i want to sell up and get a laptop. i dont need all the destop power, as at most ill play cod4, one to twice a week, i mostly play a PS3.

dont mind abotu battery life, ill have a powerplug. dont mind if its too big as its still portable vs my PC-A70B. wont weigh as much as mine. so logn at its aint over 6KGs, :)

I don't think you'll be able to get a laptop with a 1080p screen though so you will either have to settle for an external display or a smaller screen. I think you would struggle to find a laptop with built in graphics that can do 1080p anyway.

Your alternative would be to build a SFF desktop which is what I did when I went to Uni, although I didn't take it home often as I spent most of my time at Uni. Now I have a full sized desktop in my student accomodation and a netbook which I take with me when I go home, I don't stay at home long enough to play games and my parents always have a list of jobs for me (mostly tech related).

lol :)

i have 2 24" screens, which i do not want to sell up.

aslong as i can watch 1080p movies and play cod4 with 60FPS and some AA, dont mind it being TOP settings :)

is there a 4870M coming out?

Try a Dell XPS M1730, they have just updated the model range and you can now get 2 x 9800m gtx in sli. It comes with a 1920 x 1200 screen and I'm sure it would have enough firepower to run CoD4 at the screen's native res on max settings. They start £1700 though so are slightly above your budget.

I have the slightly older version with 2 x 8800m gtx. Even this is enough run Crysis at 1920 x 1200, on high at 25 - 30 fps.
