Gaming laptop for ~£700

Hi. Against literally years of advice recommending a gaming desktop at a fraction of the price, my friend is after a laptop for general web use and some gaming. His main focus currently will be NWN2, but RPGs in genereal.

I've got myself a Vostro 1500, which he can get a better spec now for the same money I paid- however, with a £700 budget (or less) can he get a better GFX card than a 8600m GT 256mb DDR2?

I know the Vostro was a bit of a (gaming) bargain, but it's a year later, I'm hoping he'll get a better spec.

Cheers- I can't seem to find enough detail to check the GPU RAM speed though. Is it a given that 8600m GTs in XPSs are DDR3 and 8600m GTss in Vostros are DDR2?
