Gaming laptop lags when under 30 percent charge

Hi all
ever since i got my lenovo y700 gaming laptop when it goes under 30 percent battery it lags when playing games, i have checked and the computer does not go into power saver mode when under 30 percent, if you could help me fix the problem i would be very grateful

Probably a power saving setting lowering performance. Plug it in anyway, can't imagine the battery life is great when gaming.

It is most likely going into power saving mode, if you want this to not happen change the power settings in control panel

One of many power-saving options kicking in for sure. Check through the Lenovo software settings as well as the standard Windows ones.

iirc windows allows you to throttle the CPU, I suspect that's happening at 30% charge. You can reduce the level or switch it off completely. Although it does mean your battery is likely to run out quicker.

I contacted lenovo and they said it was to do with the Intel DPTF technology can someone tell me how to disable this, thanks

I'd say it's likely something you can turn off in the BIOS.

I tried going into the bios and I couldn't see it, the lenovo techniction said you cannot disable it on some machines I might of missed it by accident so I would like to know which section it is in. Failing that and I cannot disable it in the bios, is there any other way I can disable it.

Gaming laptops throttle most of the time when not plugged in. If you disable the throttling then expect battery to drain very fast.

If you're worried about battery damage then you could remove the battery all together and just run on mains

Have you tried just selecting the high performance power plan in power options?

That should disable most of the CPU throttling although sometimes you'll never get maximum performance without it being plugged into mains.

Have to run my work laptop on high performance just to open emails

Regarding battery damage, my Lenovo came with a "battery saver" feature that kept the battery charged to 70% only, which they claim keeps the battery alive for longer. It's part of the lenovo software suite so have a look. It's a toggle between "Full charge" and "Battery Saver".
Ultimately you're going to get some throttling when you reach low battery.

I imagine if you check your GPU clocks they have dramatically reduced to save power. Why the **** are you trying to play games while unplugged anyway?
