i just got an xps 17 with the same specs as yours excepts ive got the 555gt 3gb and 500gb hd, and i paid just under 800 quid off dell website, is it just the label(alienware) you pay for, thats why it costs so much?

i reckon if you went for an xps you could get more "bang for your buck" edit.

If thats a 6870m, you're paying too much.
The 6870m performs on par with the 5870m. (in which case you can get a similar spec for closer to 1k)

At £1500 you want it to be a 6970m.

Didn't think that was remotely true when I checked their website.

For a little bit less on their website you can get;

Faster processor - 2720 instead of the 2630 from AW
Double the RAM - 8GB instead of 4GB
Better screen resolution - 1080p instead of the 900
Much better graphics card - 6970M instead of the 6870M (Which is just a 5870M which you can get in <£1000 laptops easily enough)
Bigger hard drive - 500GB instead of 320GB

Seems pretty good to me :p.

Good value?

Look at this:

DOMINATOR NV3D
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460 1GB
CPU: Intel® Core™ i3 530 2.93GHz @ 4GHz
Memory: 4GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz
Display: Acer GD245HQ 23.6” 1920x1080 120Hz
Optical: LG CH08LS10 Blu Ray Rom / DVD-RW
Includes: NVIDIA 3D Vision Glasses Kit & James Camerons Avatar Game

1.4k they want!!!

For a £600 system

Now you're talking about desktops in a laptop thread...

We were talking about the G150 laptop which is a very well specced laptop for the price. (the processor aside, but that can be upgraded to an i5 for not very much money.)
