There are quite a few laptops that will game under £600, not as well as a more expensive lappy but good enough at low to medium detail in new games and high in older. Try to find an Ati 5650 / 6630 or better or Nvidia GT425m / GT540m or better as these seem to be common cards at this price.

That Acer 8953G is not a good choice esp in terms of vfm^^

If you want Acer then the Acer Aspire 5745DG for under 500 or Aspire 5553G for over 500

Dell Vostro 3550 with i5 and Ati 6630 for £526 is probably best of the bunch in terms of price vs performance or dell outlet as said above.

Thankyou for your help but like honestly none of this means anything to me, if u had £600 what would you buy basically lol? sorry to be a pain :)

Cheers

or... if i had £1000 to spend, i didnt want to have to but i do want a gamijng laptop that will allow me to game, what would u advise with that budget?

dell outlet is by far your best option. focus on the graphics card before anything else. Anything above a 5650/GT540 will give you decent gaming performance.

I use a 17" laptop for gaming as I work offshore and needed something high end. I actually got mine from abroad but it cost the equivelant to about £850 last year.
ASUS N71jq
i7 720qm at 1.6,
Radeon HD 5730 mobility.
4GB 1333Mhz RAM

What is the smallest screen size you could deal with? That will affect what power you can get slightly

It runs Starcraft 2 on medium to high settings, battlefield 2 is a bit jumpy so that needs to be on lower and also RIFT which can be played on low. I think with a fresh format it would perform a little better.

If I were to trade it in and get a new laptop for gaming I would choose;
MSI GX series or Alienware(dell).
:) GL mate

EDIT!: For the price the MSI GX series are better - Alienware you pay a bit for the name. To be honest that MSI GX660R will cain for under £1,000. I wanna trade mine in and get one lol

yep for gaming you really need to get up to the AT8530/50/70 as a min or Nvidia GT550/555m

However, to future proof or get really good detail in current games you need to be at the 5870 level

if you go for a 1080p screen then you deffo want the GT555 or better and 5870.

However you can game quite happily on a GT325m or upwards just new games with be at lower detail and older games from 2009 or previous will run really well @ medium to high assuming you have an i3/i5 or equivalent cpu.

i was looking at 15/17'' screens my eyes cant deal with small screens lol, i would rather pay the extra £400 and know for sure i will be able to play everything i want to play with no problems so i think i will go with the MSI GX66OR so thankyou for that mrk, yeh the alienware laptops are so overpriced, i have a desktop that runs everything fine CoD4 333fps but i dont have space for it in my new house unless i have it in my bedroom which i dont want to do, so yeh it needs to be a laptop.
