Hi,
My son is looking at gaming laptops. He is preferably looking at spending around £1200 but can push a bit more for the 'right' products.

We are currently looking at
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-001-AU&groupid=959&catid=1828
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-165-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-167-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-171-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828
These are the laptops that are currently on our radar. He currently plays WoW, SC, Diablo and those types of games. He wants a laptop that will last for about 4/5 years but understands technology progresses fast.
He preferably would like a laptop with an SSD rather than having to buy seperately. Tbh, we wouldn't be totally sure on how to install.
I would appreciate any thoughts and if anyone has any better models feel free to link.
Thanks
Bri

Hi Bri62,

The AORUS X7 product you have listed is certainly something innovative on the market as it has 2 x graphics cards, giving very good performance. The laptop @ £1,499 has been spec'd specifically for OcUK to offer a more attractive/accessible price by reducing the spec slightly from the model @ £1,799.

For the budget you indicate I believe the AORUS gives you a chance of a bit of future proofing, but this is always a difficult call !

Other products worth considering, and in similar slim chassis to some of the other models you selected in your list:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-017-GI - excellent value and the last few units remaining in the market. (GTX870m - 6GB of Vram)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-031-GI - new generation graphics version of the above model.

If you have any questions specifically about AORUS or Gigabyte range, please let us know.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Gigabyte UK NB Team

Thank you all for your help. We have been keeping an eye on what's around and are considering 3 laptops around the 1300-1400 mark.

They are all similarly priced and there's no a lot of difference between them apart from a few minor things such as screen size, weight and BD drive. Trying to think what the best option would be! Does the Msi have 2 64mb ssd in raid? If so, what would the effect of this have ? I'm swaying towards the asus at the minute due to the size of the screen. If anyone could advise on past experiences with any of these models that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Bri
