Hi Guys, I was hoping you can help me out.

My friend has ~£600 to spend (say £630 is the hard limit) on a new PC.

His main requirement is a PC that plays games well and he needs to be able to move it relatively easily - hence a laptop. That said, he won't be moving it every day and doesn't need anything particularly small or light - just small enough so he can throw it in a bag every few weeks to take it home on the train. Also, good battery life is not a requirement as it will almost always be plugged in.

From my own research, a Dell XPS 17 with its Sandy bridge CPU (i3 2310M as standard, with i5/i7 upgrades available) and GT 550M graphics card looks like the best bet, but I'm sure there are some other gaming laptops out there that meet his specs and beat the dell. Any thoughts?

If you check the Dell outlet you can find a i7 Sandy and GT 555 for the same price which should be a lot better. Not really sure you will find more bucks for bang than that anywhere else.

If you're looking for brand new there's the acer 5750g that can be had for under £500 with a second gen i5 and gt 540m if you know to look as the 5750g comes in various specs and prices.
