It feels like I've been reading up for days on X & Y monitors, from forum posts here, to reviews online.

I'm looking for a good monitor (budget £1000 max) to support my new gaming rig, i7 7700k, 1080ti, etc. The challenge i'm facing is, everything seams to be suffering from BLB, IPS glow, dead pixels etc. combined with poor return options. This compounded with, should I go for 1440p, 4k, 120hz etc etc.

I feel completely lost and need some advice.

If you had my budget, what would you go for?

Thanks,

Will

Are you happy to use a monitor with quality control issues?

What do you play? If online shooters are your thing, the refresh rate is important and we are still a few years away from graphics cards being able to drive 4K at a high refresh rate, so 1440p is the sensible choice. (It's also easier to read text on.)

As for IPS vs TN, I would not drop a large amount of money on any TN panel. The colours and viewing angles are rubbish compared to a decent IPS screen. The IPS panel lottery sucks but a certain very large retailer will accept returns without a fuss. For what it is worth, my Viewsonic 27" 1440p/165Hz has no dead pixels and BLB that is barely noticeable when the brightness is turned down to a sane level.

or why not try the dell s2716dg or s2417dg they are 27 and 24 inches both although tn are very very good once calibrated the 24 inch was reviewed in the custom pc mag of October . there are many positive reviews for the 27 inch and if you look around you w ill get a good purchase go for revision a03 onwards as they are better screen finishes.

I have the s2716dg a03 27inch and had bought it after an eizo 23 inch ips .fs2333 once calibrated the comments about tn screens are shown to be very wide of the mark . as they have no blb etc. and dell build quality far exceeds the acer ,asus and others
