Hello, the Logitech mouse I wanted went out of stock as I ordered and has been discontinued!

So I'm back and need help again, as I know nothing about mice. Keyboard keys on the mouse is a must-have, and the DPI I want is 1,600+.

I don't want to spend much more than £30, thank you!

If your not going wireless may I suggest you try to find one with a braided cable, my Steelseries mouse has all the buttons I want but it has plastic cable and can get quite annoying!

My logitech ones are faultless, my MX110 died afterbout 8 years use so I located a new second hand one (it had not been used) and love it.

Won't disregard wireless mice then, not having a wire does sound good as I have to anchor the wire so it doesn't pull my mouse down the back of my desk, so that would be a bonus. :p

I've put together a list of ones I would be interested in, if anyone could suggest the best ones I would appreciate it. Pretty much all of them seem to be high DPI, so the only requirement I'd have is keyboard buttons on them so I can map end turn and reload and hotkeys in RPGs etc to them.

Thank you for your time. :)

To be honest, unless there's known quality control issues or something like that a mouse is really all about personal preference. Performance-wise, I very much doubt you'd see much difference between them.

I'm a huge fan of the Logitech MX500 shape, so I'm using a G5 currently although sadly I think they've discontinued them now. Weights are a plus point for me since I usually like my mouse a little heavier.

Even things like the coating are important, but will vary wildly from person to person. I tried out my cousin's Razer Deathadder and I hated the rubbery coating on it. Conversely, I think the Steelseries Kinzu/Kana mice look quite nice, but I'm not convinced by the shiny coating.

If you're after something with a load of buttons, I've heard the Corsair MMO mouse is quite good. I think Razer also have a similarly-styled mouse targeted at MOBA players (6 or so buttons on the side).

Best mid-range mouse, the Sensei RAW (rubberised for me). In the lower bracket, the Gigabyte M6900. The Xornet is a bit of a strange animal. No idea about the other brands. If you like the MX500 series, you should really consider the G500.

yup. It's a good all round mouse. The mouse wheel can be 'free rolling', but that's mainly a gimmick from my experience.

The side rubber grips feel a bit weird, rough-like surface, but not a deal breaker. I think they've smoothed them out.

Cable is braided, a bit stiff, like all braided cables.

Good build quality, good sensor and tracking, never used the weights, but they are there.

There's a new replacement coming, the G500s, and the G400s.

It will last quite a while, its a decent mouse but a little too light for me even with all the heaviest weights.

Can't say, mine's gone to my brother. Started to develop a squeak on the left button, but he said it doesn't happen anymore.

Otherwise never had issues with Logitechs, and I've had MX510, MX518, DualOptical. MX518, been around 2, 3 years. MX510 about the same and they're still going. Feet have suffered, but rest (sensor, buttons, cable, scroll wheel), all good.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, had a look at all of the ones named and I think the G500 is pretty much perfect for what I want. Thanks!

Still using my Logitech G5 (the G500 replaced it in 2009) nearly seven years after I bought it and it's still pretty much as new. It's had a lot of use in that time, over 1000 hours on both Skyrim and Fallout NV yet the pads are barely worn. If it ever dies I'll be replacing it with a G500.

the m6900 is fantastic and response time is amazing i have just got one of them and i really can not fault it where as my dad went for a mad catz mmo7 and it has to go back already i would defo say the m6900

I don't think reliability is a problem for Logitech mice. I've used my MX500 and G5 for over 10 years between them, and I only upgraded because I was feeling a little bored. Both mice are still going strong.

I understand you don't initially want to spend over £30 and maybe its a rip-off to some extent if you do but I bough a razer naga about a year ago and I absolutely love it. I can choose between wireless and wired and the 1-12 buttons on the side are awesome. Its true that you can use the ones on the keyboard as we have done for years but its a lot easier with all the numbers right where my thumb is sat.

I actually get frustrated when im using the computer in work and I need to put numbers into the various programs and when im 'clicking' with my right hand thumb nothing happens.

There are loads of decent mice for your price range but don't completely ignore the more expensive models as some of them are truely awesome.

The only 'gaming' equipment ive got which I would say isn't really that awesome is my Logitech G19 keyboard. Its a nice keyboard but the things that make it expensive (the LCD and G keys) are mostly novelty and don't really get a huge amount of use. Plus the fact that barely anything supports the LCD and if you want anything decent displayed on it you need to get specialist software it just doesn't feel worth it.

Hope you find what you need though :)
