i've had a G5 mouse for a while now, n not used a mouse mat for a while cuz on other optical mouses i found a lot of jumping, but i'd like one for my G5.

Whats a good gaming mouse mat that works 100% with optical mouses, and the G5 in particular.

Cheers

Using the G5 with the Icemat - Black 2nd Edition - works great for me, although the sliding across the surface will probally bug those who are very funny about crap like that - never ever take any notice of it so.

how do u mean slide across it.

Seems each mat is good which makes it even harder to choose.
Move a piece of paper across a table, similar thing - nothing to make a big deal out of but something to note, especially to those very funny about silly things like that! Personally I've never taken notice of it to be bothered in the slightest.

its more like glass rubbing againest plastic and does make an annoying scratching noise, but with headphones on in a game you dont realise. The only time you do is when your in windows (or dont have any noise in the room)

its like paper on the table 10x :P

EDIT: Func/icemat/eXactmat (amazing) are the best IMO

Im currently using a Logitech G7 Ltd Ed with a Razer Exactmat with wrist support and find it to be very good. Your G5 will thank you if you get this mousemat for it!

the search button loves you :)

thats a pad i picked up a couple weeks ago now. im still lovin it. alhough id like to use a q pad or steelpad one of these days.

those who are advising using desks... thats fair enough but everyones desks aree different. my desk was driving me mad in photoshop etc as it just wasnt accurate enough for me :( mouse mats for the win ! not gimmicks lol !

everglide mats all the way and i'm not just saying that because i used to be sponsored by them
they genuinely are awesome, i've had a dkt and i'm currently on a titan at the minute! would go to a lan even without it

you want to get one thats long lasting aswell, im not sure about the new everglides but the old ones would wear down within 6 months..

The best 'smooth' mousemat is either the icemat/steelmat and the best control is the func/eXactmat, get any of those and you will be happy..

tbh a lot of it is personal preference! i am currently selling a steelpad 4s (the aluminium one) which is hardly used i couldn't stand this mat it's far too sensitive for the games i play, also a Xtrac Hybrid mousemat that's a composite of plastic and cloth, very good mat but again a little too sensitive for my gameplay! if you play high sensitivity then i'd recommend either a icemat or steelpad, for low sensitivity either a everglide titan or qpad!

Yeah i agree, one good thing about the eXactmat/Func they are double sided so if you play high sens then its cool and its cool for low sens aswell..

the qpad one, i read it can wear out quite quickly, is this true.

With the glass ones, are you foreva changing the pads on your mouse?
