Gaming mouse vs FPS

Question for anyone using a gaming grade mouse: do you actually notice a difference in accuracy / movement / smoothness over conventional e.g. microsoft intellimouse

Thanks to the recommendations here and review sites i have ordered the MX518. Currently use the MX500 at work so i know the shape is comfortable. For gaming coming from £7 Intellimouse and was getting fed up trying to move the x-hair slightly to make long range sniping in BF2 and finding there just wasnt the possiblity of tiny movements, hope this helps!

P.s. does the MX518 have on the fly DPI adjustment like the G5?
