Looking for a gaming mouse dunno whats good and whats not atm, got budget of about 50quid, was looking at the Logitech G9 Gaming-Grade Laser Mouse, tho its been out abit now tho it still good ?

Mouse mat? would I need one I've been using table most of my time...

Thanks

Logitech g9 if you can get your hands on one ive got a g9x and its flawless and a razer goliathus mat and it has very presice traching in games =D

Razer DeathAdder, Salmosa and any other mice using the same 3G sensor or the MS WMO 1.1a are the best mice for gaming.

I'd suggest reading some reviews rather than going by what people say on here a lot of people just buy a mouse on its price or simply because "it's a newer model"

The Razer Deathadder or the Steelseries Xai which is a better mouse would probably be you best choice, or the old reliable mx518.

I would be careful before choosing a razer, Although they are fantastic mice very accurate very high dpi etc, The shape really doesnt suit everybody

This is very true... I love the sensor on the deathadder but I don't use it any more due to not getting on with the way it tapers out at the front instead of in like other mice...

I've used pretty much every "gaming" mouse on the market and eventually come back to the WMO 1.1a - its plain simple, nice weight/balance and for me a finger tip user perfect shape... the sensor just works, very responsive. Laser mice are hugely over-rated - most of them are infact crap for gaming - unless your a very very low sense user - due to pickup skip.

What type of hand do you have ?

Some of these days's gaming mouses are way too large, try some in a shop first see which one is comfy in your hand, which should be most important surely ?

Also everybody is mentioning G5 and G9 but what about the G500 ? it has the highest available dpi of the logitech mice

You are exactly what im talking about in my previous post, you don't buy a monitor based solely on its size, and you don't buy a digital camera based solely on how many megapixels it has, and you don't buy a mouse on how much DPI it has. The word clueless comes to mind.

Surpised no one has mentioned the Roccat Kone V2

It gets my vote. (Ive had G5's, G7's, G9's, MX518's...Deathadders pretty much had a go on every mouse and nothing compares to the Roccat imo.)

tbh all of the above mentioned will do you fine, I like the Roccat Kone it's awesome but for the price something like the MX518 for under £20 is a bargain just a word of warning if you have smaller hands some mice are little larger and steeper than usual so they can be uncomfortable on your wrist so bare the size & hight in mind, all of the mice mentioned will all have decent dpi settings etc so comfort is one of the main things to worry about if you are gaming for long periods.

definetely the g500, I always trust logitech to deliver with quality, although they made a slight mistep with the g9 in my opinion this looks like a return to their excellent old standard.
