You could get a fairly good XPS 1730, or for portability; an XPS 1530.
Both apparently great machines.
If you can justify spending silly amounts on hardware try Alienware's range.

You could actually haggle a dual 8800m XPS 1730 to £1400, just need to be in ultra haggle mode.
As the people who own them on here will say, they are perfectly suited for gaming, awesome pieces of kit.
I'm still waiting for an ATI mobility X2 gaming laptop.

I have an XPS 1530,T9300 4g ram 8600 gt and I think it flies tbh 
Runs warcraft at 60 fps and all other games I have tried with no probs -but not a crysis lover so cant test that

When it comes to perfomance, you just can't beat the M1730.
I play everything at 1920x1200 with maximum details and AA & AF (Crysis I play with no AA on very high settings). COD4, Stalker, Bioshock, Company of Heroes etc etc.
In this post there are a few screenies from my custom Crysis & Stalker configs I use on my laptop (set everything to max settings then went even more extreme by editing configs).
