Gaming on a projector

Has anyone tried this? I'm building an extension and someone how I have managed to to agree with the wife the use of the spare room. I thought she would argue for somewhere for her hand bags and shoes but I managed to get her to agree for a Man Cave:)

I either get a 50-60 inch tv screen or I go for projector.
 
The more I read the more I get confused about projectors just too many types to choose from. Which projectors did you all get?
 
Unsure I still have some time to decide on what to do. I just know if I decide to go down the tv route I may regret getting a projector. In fact when we renovated the house I wanted a projector in the lounge but the wife wanted a center light and we could not have both. Guess what... we have the center light but we never turn it on as it is too bright! Still got my kickass surround system.
