My system spec is as follows:

AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ CPU
Asus M2NPV-VM Motherboard
1.5 GB Crucial DDR2 667 Memory
Geforce 6150 Graphics (Onboard)
Onboard Sound

What if any improvement to gaming performace would I see by switching over to 64 bit windows xp?

And at the same time what if any improvement would I see in overall system performance?

I tried vista and really did not like it and it seems pretty flakey as far as compatibility goes.

I know XP 64bit can be funny as far as hardware compatibility goes but i'm pretty sure that everything I have is compatible

I would tend to stick with 32 bit on XP. If you want 64 bit, I'd go for Vista. I think there is a small improvement in performance, but I dunno how noticable it is. Not much was my experience when I tried it (though that was a while ago) and I had endless problems with hardware. As well as hardware compatibility, there's software compatibility to consider. I know a few folk who have had problems with various games on XP 64 bit. On the other hand there are some games with added features in their 64 bit versions.

I ran XP x64 edition on my Opteron 146/2GB/X800Pro setup for a few years and I found it to be fine, with only a few games not working. Old games like SiN didn't work (the Steam version did) and one other - I think it was the Cellfactor demo but I'm not sure

Apart from that I found it to be fine and a little quicker for my needs. You can also download 64-bit versions of UT2004, Farcry and HL2 to name a few

Your 6150 graphics though will really slow down any game you try, whether you use XP 32 or 64 bit. Upgrading that will give you the biggest increase

Question is why would you want to do this rather than installing Vista64 (unless you already have a copy of XP of course). It's better in just about every way. Don't listen to the detractors, I've been running it since it came out and haven't had any trouble at all. Had loads of trouble with XP 64 mind you, awful driver support at the time, although I think this has improved.

Edit - XP64 will do sod all with the second core on your CPU too, Vista is much better at recognising and utilising multi core chips.

Are there any other games which make use of 64-bit either natively or by way of a patch?

I already tried vista and did not like it.

I could get used to it tho but our Pinnacle showcenter 1000g media player for network streaming movies and music to our tv does not work under vista and according to them there is not plan to get it to work.

So untill I am totaly forced to I will not be upgrading to vista as i'm not going to go out and buy a new media center just so i can run a new os

Not sure

I seem to remember something about a list on AMD's website of 64-bit games but I couldn't find it on a quick search!
