Afternoon folks,

A friend of mine is looking to build a PC in a couple of weeks. Specifically for gaming.

Mainly plays games like Starcraft, Diablo, Skyrim, ME. Not really into FPS etc.

£1000 including a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Can anyone suggests a spec?

Cheers

Cool thanks.

Is there a reason you went for water cooling? I doubt he'll be pushing the limits of overclocking so could do without that.

Looks good though. I suspect he'll spend a tad more than £1k but is good to see whats possible around that mark.

There on special offer and won't interfere with the ram :)

Also should be quiet operation.

Ah right.

I see the R9 290's are being recommended across a lot of threads at the moment.

Is that just because they are on special or are Radeon on top at the moment?

Not looked at the market since I bought my 670's.

If you want to go mATX this is a nice option. Also listed a decent air cooler that could help save a few quid.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z87M-D3H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £82.99
1 x Cooler Master N200 NSE-200-KWN1 Midi-Tower Windowed - Black £39.95
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
Total : £152.93 (includes shipping : ).

EDIT: If you use the rest of RJCs build but replace the case, mobo and cooler with these you save £23.04, you get a smaller form factor and a nice window through which to view your pretty GPU. Of course you lose some expansion so if you're planning to use crossfire later it might be better to go ATX for the airflow. Just some food for thought.

Cool thanks for the variation.

He's itching to buy something haha.

Looking like he'll stick with most of RJC's spec but change out the monitor, for

Asus VN247H 24"Widescreen

I see the RAM is out of stock now though. Bit of a bummer as that was a sweet deal.

Any alternatives?

Yeah case is really ugly :P Looking at the picture i thought it would be a £20 case, but £67 ? You have so many better options then that.
