Hi all,
This is the son of Bri.
I am looking at investing in a new PC and was wondering whether anyone would be kind enough to help me spec one. My previous PC has lasted me approximately 5 years (starting to slow, very loud etc). I am looking to spend in the region of £700max but the cheaper the better. I usually play MMO's, Starcraft and looking at buying project cars. My knowledge of building computers is very limited so the more input the better. I am preferably looking at nvidia 960 + i5 + 256ssd as they're the things being suggested to me currently but any input is appreciated. I understand AMD is a cheaper option so I am more than willing to go down that route if necessary.

Thanks in advance
Stephen

Ok slightly more expensive but a quality case and a slightly improved version of the GTX960

All parts have a black and red theme if it matters, apart from ssd.

I don't know how to do the Basket drop trick as per harry5522

Watching this thread, largely because OP has asked for the same spec out for roughly the same budget.

But I was hoping to include something into the system, if it's at all possible.
I have a Samsung LED smart tv, and was hoping to link the computer system up to it if it's at all possible -so I'm thinking something along the lines of a video card with HDMI support.

As my case will be largely visible, I was wondering if there were any real nice tall cases (like tower/piller design) around that would support the Mobo + graphics card(s) etc.

Any additional ideas coupled with the suggested part setup already posted would be ace.

:-)

Hi

The 960gtx has hdmi so that's sorted I assume the tv is 1080p rather than 4k the card is capable of handling most games at 1080p

In regards to the case the nzxt 340 is 44cm high you could get a nzxt440 51cm high but you are looking at £30 more details of 440 link below

I am probably not the best to ask about cases as I am looking to do a new build in august/september when intel skylake should be available and am torn between the nzxt 340 or 440 or corsair carbide air 540 (£120ish)

You could stream it to the TV using a NZXT Doko or Steam Link when it comes out.

do you need operating system/keyboard/mouse/monitor?

are you interested in building the system yourself or do you want it premade?

That is nice.

One thing is that the R9 280/280X is a quicker card (more Vram and memory bandwidth).

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x MSI AMD Radeon R9 285 Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £149.99
1 x **B Grade** Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £139.99
Total : £449.57 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The Vapor-X may not be the best match for the black+red .

You also dont need 650W if you stick with a single card, the 550W PSU will be fine.

YOUR BASKET
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £59.99
1 x Antec TruePower Classic 550w '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £55.99
Total : £125.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Do you not get free shipping with 100+ posts?

That should be a great build :)

You sire are spot on just forgot.

Need to ensure forum I'd is linked with shop login and Bob's your uncle

(Apparently Bob works for dpd)

Stulid is right 650w is overkill and the Amd 285 is better than the 960 I just like the regular driver releases of nvidia.

Heya guys, been watching this thread as I am interested in buying a new gaming PC for a similar price.

Just a couple of questions:

Which of those three graphics card do you recommend?
MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
MSI AMD Radeon R9 285 Gaming Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
**B Grade** Sapphire Radeon R9 280X Vapor-X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card

Post above said R9 285, is there even much difference in each of the cards?

I've noticed there is no DVD drive included, do you actually need one?

How do I get OCUK to build the PC for me and how much do they charge you? Might have a go at building it myself, I've never done it but if you save a lot of money it will be worth it I'm sure.

Thanks,
Tom

It really would be politer to ask this in your own thread :)
