Whats the build for, and does your friend need a PSU.

Motherboard + CPU have a bundle to save you a bit of money, however I would go for the epic bundle.

Will since its gaming you can drop the 16GB ram, and the i7 to get it under £1000. This has enough power to run another 970GTX.

Just found out that the PC will also be used for video conversion/encoding, so would an i7 be useful for that?

Overclocking will also be attempted and I recall that sometimes the lower speed CPUs have a higher overclocking potential.
