Wow is intel and nvidia biased.

There is a nvidia 460 in the clearance section for £80 (one still left) i would take that over the amd 6670 and go with the h61/67 and pentium G CPU. My previous link shows the difference in performance and both setups are priced roughly the same.

I think this could be the winner then.

Title of the thread:

'Gaming' PC for less than £280

;) :p

£50 over the original budget. The psu, case, processor all upgraded.
'Gaming' PC for less than £330... still ok.

Thats what you would get for your money in the high street.

Better remove your competitor link quick before you get a holiday!

Yip I still see it there and this is quite sometime after my last post.

Not sure what james means about the 460 and the 700 series. If he means the am3 mobos i wouldnt have suggested getting that socket anyway :/

I see the OP has changed the spec, and improved the PSU which is good! I just thought the 460 for that price was ideal seeing as it will add cuda to the rig as well as pretty decent performance. Guess we all have to draw a line in the sand somewhere.

OK, i was talking about the AM3 700 series. At first he was talking about getting a 700 series board. So i was just saying incase he went with that and then found it didn't work.

i wouldnt bother with the hdd right now, you can get a 60gb ssd for the same price, install your os and wow on it, then buy a hdd when prices come down.

heres what i would get.

the other option is to go for something like the i3 2100 and a h61 board, use integrated for a bit, save the £35 from the budget and buy a good gpu in a few weeks.
