Hi all.

The time has come to upgrade my gaming system. I play online quite a bit mainly FPS/Racing. THis is my system spec at the mo.....

GA P55 USB3 Mother board
Nvidia GTX 580
I5 760 (oc'd to 4.0Ghtz)
Corsair 750w PSU
8Gig Corsair XMS3 1600
1 TB WD HD
Antec 902
Benq 2410
G15 Keyboard
G500 Mouse
Akasa Venom Pico Compact CPU Cooler

Is it time to change it all or upgrade some components.

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

Not a bad looking rig already mate.

What sort of budget do you have and what do you feel needs replacing?

Unless you have other reasons, you can keep your GPU, RAM, PSU, CASE, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and HDD.

Hey,

I have around £300-£400

Was thinking about an SSD but have not much knowledge how these work. Is the 580 future proof? How long will the CPU last at that speed (it's been clocked for at least 6 months)

Thanks

Okay, thats a good budget.

SSD's are great, faster booting and loading. Best way to use them is to load windows onto it and use it as a boot drive. Then add your imprortant programs to it, such as games or anything you use daily. Picking an SSD is tricky, my advice is steer clear of the sandforce controller. The SSD's id suggest looking at are: Plextor, Crucial M4 and Samsung 830/840.

I'd say the 580 will keep you going for a fair while, atleast another 2 years.

How long your CPU will last depends on your load temps and load voltage, do you know these (off hand)

My suggestion would be wait until july and grab a Haswell CPU and Motherboard. :)

I'm a similar spec to yourself and am only looking to upgrade to Haswell when it comes out. Theres still life in 1156 yet!
