hey, could any of you pls build me a pc for around £600 i need everything apart from a mouse, keyboard and a mouse mat :D (i need w7 to be included in that price)

ty :D

Jack's deal looks good to me, though personally I would (and did) get an X2 555 CPU and unlock it, and get motherboard and RAM separately. Should save you a few bucks, but for simplicity's sake the Xenon kit is great.

Yeah it's good.

Couple of thoughts. Would be better to get the 955BE cpu if possible. I have suggested the 555BE in some threads it's only £10 less than the 840 sk82jack spec'd and it's a gamble on the unlock besides you'd want an aftermarket heatsink to cool it so there's little point on this build as the budget isnt that tight and for a gaming rig now you really want those quad cores.

Second is that the psu that comes with the case doesnt have two pci-e connectors I think it only has the one. That 5850 will need 2 and i'm not sure if a molex adapter is included with the card. Might be better to by the elite case minus the psu and use the bequiet 530 L7 stulid is frequently spec'ing.

Ha ha I KNEW you'd be in on this sooner rather than later.....wanted to get the 955 quip in before you pal :P

Result that it does come with an adapter I just wanted to make sure. They are very spartan with the details on the overclockers site. I still think that 5850 is THE card to have at the mo for bang to buck performance.

Nice work once again stulid

*edit* quick note that 955 can be easily made into the 965 with some very easy bios changes and still use the stock heatsink. The 955 is £89.99 the 965 is £104.99, stu may have been £10 over budget but that cpu really is worth it

or i can just get a smaller monitor for 80 quid and fit in both the 2120 card and the graphics card :3

You can if you want but none of the monitors on OcUK which are smaller/cheaper than the one I specced are Full HD. All of their resolutions are below 1920x1080 so you would have to buy the monitor elsewhere unless you don't mind a downgrade in quality, and you would end up paying a similar amount in shipping anyway unless you can find one in a local shop.

I'd stick with my man stulid. Especially since that also has the 5850 again like the 955 it could be overclocked to gain you more performance for FREE!

Hope those benchmarks helped. Any which way, good luck with the build. As you can see it's pretty much level between the two, some tests favour one and vice versa.

n.b i compared it to the 965 as you really should up the mulitplier by 1 to make the 955 a 965......this is why we buy black edition cpus :D

Im sorry but i only have 1 more question, is Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.5GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail better than both of em?

That benchmark i posted allows you to compare two of whatever you like. That's why i posted it. Compare the q8400 to the 965. Short answer stulids knows.....you know ;)

Jacks £596 is a good spec for the £600 budget but might be worth waiting for the new line of 'Bulldozer' CPU's to come out and see if theres any similar priced new processors
