Gaming PC help required!

Hello there,

I am a first time poster on these forums so I apologise if this is in the wrong thread or something. Be gentle! ;)

Here is my predicament...
I bought an Nvidia Titan about a month ago thinking that my PC might now be able to handle most high fidelity games with some ease, however I am now under the impression that the rest of my PC's components are letting the system down. The specs:

i5 2500k
GTX Evga Titan SC
Gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3
8GB 1600mhz RAM

I do have a bit of money to sink into the system (about £400 if required) so I would very much appreciate your opinions on what I should do.

What are the rest of your specs?

Also, why a Titan? Buying a Titan over a 780/780TI makes no sense unless you have multiple displays or run at crazy resolutions. If you don't then a 780TI would outperform it for a few hundred quid less, and a 780 would come very close for another couple of hundred less.

Oh great, I appreciate the quick response acme15 I'll check this out thanks. :) And to answer your question I managed to snag the Titan for a bargain price (£420) and it was a just before the 780 ti had been announced.

Uh first off before you go spending cash, what is the clock speed of your i5 2500k ? you may not need a new CPU at all. SB is still amazing and since you are not running SLI ...cant see you needing to shell out 400 to utilise the titan fully, have you overclocked your cpu ?

He probably won't be able to utilise the Titan fully with a 2500K in some titles, particularly those which make good use of hyperthreading.

Murah has a good point though, the 2500K with a hefty overclock should be able to keep up with the Titan at least some of the time, and the rest of the time it shouldn't be a vast bottleneck, just a slight one.

And if you can pick up a used 2600K and clock it up, that would come close to the 4770K anyway.

Apologies, I sometimes forget what a disappointment Ivy and Haswell were over Sandybridge. :rolleyes:

As said a 2600k\2700k or 3770k if your board will support it (im pretty sure It does as i have the ud2h and that does. :)) will be the best option. You should be able to get one for around £150-£170 secondhand easy.

Jusr make sure your CPU cooler is good enough for a decent over lock too. What cooler do you currently have?
