I'm currently looking to build a gaming PC

My initial thoughts are the system below although I would prefer if I could get it to the £1000 mark (I'm a tad over at the moment)

If anybody can give me their thoughts on this system and how it might be improved I would be very grateful. Things I'm not sure on are:-

is it worth going for an i7 or will a i5 be good enough?
If i'm overclocking the chip do I have to watch out what type of memory I'm using?
Would it be better to stick with the 760 or try to stretch to a 770 or even a 780 (may need an overdraft for the final option!)

Is the H100i the best solution? I will not need a cdrom drive in the case as I use steam for gaming

Thanks in advance

Ian

The 760 and 770 look a bit overpriced at the moment, given recent price cuts to AMD's 7970 and their new 280X. Both will get you 770 performance for 760 price. I'd look into them - although maybe wait until the weekend, as Gibbo has hinted that there might be some deals on ASUS models.

Note that if you get the h100i for the Prodigy M you won't be able to use Crossfire/SLI, as it will block the bottom PCI slot. If you think this might be a future option, you could go for the h80i, which is a bit cheaper. If not, you could go for a refurbished h100, which is half the price of the h100i - although I would recommend that you get a pair of Corsair SP120 fans for it.

You could also save yourself a bit on the RAM. Have a look at some of Avexir's stuff, or Patriot's Black Mamba series.

[EDIT] Just checking: have you seen the Phenom M? Prodigy without the handles - looks better to my eyes.
