Gaming PC, Need your help!!!

Hello OcUK, This is my 1st post on here, (been meaning to register for ages, but I'm lazy! D'oh!) and I'm finally going for my "going all out, money ain't an issue" (Pfft Yeah, right) Gaming/Enthusiast PC build. Basically, I need you guys to help me get the right components for my money, as its the first time i've done something this extravagant, and I'm a "n00b" at high-end spec.

So Basically this is what I had in mind.


Asus P6T Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4Ghz ( I hope =P)
OCZ Gold 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 2000MHz PC3-16000C10 Low-Voltage Triple Channel
3x XFX GeForce GTX 260 XT 896MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Cards Tri SLI
64 GB SSD
2x 1TB HDD
Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler

Even I can tell this doesn't seem like I particularly good lineup, but yeah. Around £2000 budget. (still a long way to go saving wise, but where there's a will there's a way?) Don't be afraid to completely deconstruct what I have written down, as the ink is definately not dry.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

BTW, I game a lot, so Graphics is definately important, as is fast speeds for video rendering etc, and obviously Photoshopping, Flash etc.

1 Question what monitor set up are you using?

Also if your going to get vista get the version with the windows 7 upgrade voucher.
 
1) You are unlikely to get the i7 near 4GHz with 12G of ram, if you want to run an i7 at that speed, consider the Overclockers 4GHz bundle, it'll take the guesswork out of it (only 6G of ram though).

2) 3 GTX260s seems like overkill, consider 2 GTX275s or 2xHD4890s (or even just 2 GTX260s)

3) Have you budgeted for monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headphones/speakers or do you already have them covered?

4) I just got my HAF922, and although smaller than the HAF932, it's still cavernous, and has plenty of cooling capability.

Monitor wise, I Think I'm going to be getting the 28" HannsG monitor, possibly with my current 22" Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW along side. The Hanns is probabaly about the best I'm going to be able to afford after getting the actual build together lol :)

And yeah, I wouldn't even bother with Vista unless I was getting the win7 upgrade voucher :P

I was thinking about that bundle tbh, just wasn't sure whether to go for it. And I totally agree on the GFX, I really don't know what to do with that, so I guess I'm going to spend a few hours looking at benchmarks etc. Monitor KB+Mouse I've budgeted for somewhat, Besides those will be the last things I get as I have a reasonably decent monitor+kb+mouse atm. Edit #3 (keeping up with edits is hard work :D)

I'm primarily a headset gamer, Rarely using my logitech 2.1 speakers, so I doubt i'll be upgrading those any time soon, and yeah I was thinking about the 922, but I've been in love with the 932 since it came out xD So thats a given.

After scratching my head and facepalming at my inability to comprehend that list, I finally managed to understand it. :D

I really like the look of that, although not to sure about the 2 24 inch monitors, if im going to be spending around 420 on them, then I should probabaly go with something large, and just have my current samsung 22" running next to it.

The GTX275's are appearing to be the way forward, I was even considering a 295, but not sure if its really worth it.

Thanks for that though, its given me a much better of idea of what I need to prioritize on + taken the overkill out of it ;D

On a side note does anyone use the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution for gaming? or would I be better off getting a G15+Copperhead?

The mouse is great I use it with a G15, but dont use half the extra buttons on the keyboard lol.

I've got 2 24's there more than big enough, takes up my whole desk, you would need a full on table to fit a 22 next to a 30 incher :S lol
 
Well, Im designating a wall in my room for my rig, with a loooong desk so it shouldn't be too hard :D Btw thanks a lot for taking your time to pick those things out, it helps a lot.
 
Choices Choices, so many Choices. Well I think I'll have to definately take a good look at the gpu market and try and find something that suits my needs lol. xD
