I am close to purchasing my first ever gaming PC. I live in a small flat so my gaming desktop will be in my living room where the TV will be. I currently have an LG 47" Smart TV 1080p. I understand (I think) that a 4K TV will be much more advantageous rather over 1080p smart TV.

My question is, will a 4K TV be good enough for PC Gaming? Will a 4K TV give me nice visuals like a monitor? I currently have a Xbox one and I keep coming across Twitch streams of PC games that look SO much nicer than Xbox one and PS4 visuals. I know ultimately a PC Monitor would be the best way to go but I don't want to clutter my living room up with a TV and a PC Monitor. For my personal circumstance will a new 4K TV do a good job for PC Gaming for me??

Just make sure you get one with not too bad input lag, there are a few that have around 20ms which should be bearable... Samsung tend to be at the better end of the scale, but when I was looking recently it meant paying at least £1500 for the TV to get one with even 20ms (which is still pretty bad compared with monitors)

If you do get a 40-50" 4K TV, you are going to want to sit about 1 meter from it to really get the benefit

Providing the TV and graphics card have HDMI 2 sockets then 60hz 4k is achievable.

Gaming lag is more of an issue particularly at the cheaper end of the scale. Some TVs have been found to have lags of 120ms and higher if they have picture processing on. Unless you're a twitch gamer a lag of 20ms won't be noticeable but good luck in finding a 4k that'll give you that.

your better off getting the 40in 4k philips monitor thats 60hz over DP , i got 75hz overclock on mine and is good. but now i have tasted Gysnc 100hz there is no comparison .

also remember you will need 2x 980ti to get 60 fps at 4k on high settings in big games today . you can get 1 x 980ti and get good frames on medium settings .

4K gaming is not ready yet . thats why im down grading to 3440x1440p ultrawide gsync .

i used to think having pc in tv was good when i lived in a flat , but it was pants a the quality on a tv with pc is just blehhhh , you need a monitor , or just get a good 17in gaming laptop . i could never ever go back to a tv for pc gaming as they just not built for it , until of course they bring out gsync tvs .

Look at the Phillips as suggested or the Samsung 6500 7500 8500 or 9000, but you will need an Nvidea Card to use the Samsung TV's as they require HDMI 2 so 9 Series card required.

The Samsung's have a low input lag, and can run 4:4:4 @60hz in PC Mode and 4:2:2 in game mode.

I would research the thread at HardForum for more info.

Well thats why i dont want to game at 4k i want to game at 1440p but i cant find a 1440p TV lol. it needs to be about 40" and she sits about 2 meters from the TV at the moment when gaming.
