Hi all,

I've been tasked with building a rig for a friend. He's given me a budget of around £500-£600 and will be getting BF3 and wants to be able to turn the settings right up. Resolution isn't too much of a big deal, his screen is a samsung tv and almost certainly won't be more than 1680 x 1050.

I've always gone with Nvidia cards in the past so would ideally like to stick to what I know, although could be persuaded otherwise :)

My main problem is finding a cpu/ram/mobo setup that will work well together and cope well with some overclocking.

Thanks in advance

Is the budget for the complete system inc OS. For £600 you won't be able to build a rig and turn the settings right up. You probley need £900 to build a rig to play close to the max At 1050p

Thanks for that link. I've had a look through it and I reckon I'll point him in the direction of this build but there's just a couple of things I'd like to know:

- As mentioned in the other post, is it worth buying a decent cpu cooler as I will be helping him overclock it, or is stock good enough?

- With the graphics card, could I get this instead? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-156-OK, and just overclock it and get similar performance, there's a hefty £40 difference in the price. And also, is there a massive difference in performance between this and a 570 (i.e. is it worth convincing him to part with the extra if he could stretch?!)

- Another option, if he could find another £130 or so is to get another 460 and SLI them, but then I assume I'd need a different board?

- With the ram, I like the look of the Kingston 4GB kit, but is it worth spending a bit more and getting the 8GB kit instead? Or wouldn't you see any real world difference?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks a lot for the responses for far!

- Stock cooler is good for around 4ghz maybe a little more - £25 will get you a gelid cooler for 4.5 up http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-001-GD

- I'd personally want 560ti minimum - This shows difference between 560ti & 570 - you decide if it's worth the extra http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/330?vs=306

- Change the mobo to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-368-GI if you want sli

- 4GB is enough. But with prices as low as they are, you may as well get 8 if you can afford
