Hi guys,

Friend at work has as asked me to spec them up a PC for used with gaming - mostly FPS - so aiming for 1440p@120/144 at high settings.

CPU can be either AMD or Intel but GPU would prefer NVidia.

No need for keyboard, mouse, headset or windows.

They do need an monitor and have added a couple more hundred budget for that but ill take a look at that separately just want to get the PC spec first.

Budget is £1500 for PC only

Looking on Overclockers site I saw this pre-built which actually fits the bill quite perfectly with it hitting budget nicely at its current offer (though couple of parts seem to be showing out of stock:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk...-9700kf-geforce-rtx-2070-super-fs-1dz-og.html

And don't even need windows which knocks a hundred off.

But I can build PCs so if better can be done buying separate parts then some advice would be great.

Cheers :)

Hi

Here is something to get the ball rolling.

3700X and a 2080 Super. Still some money left over so you can swap things around to suit i.e different case, cooler, ram etc. There are better versions of the 2080S but the price increases quite a bit i.e £80 more for the Gigabyte Gaming OC. It would still be in budget though. The extra fan is for the roof so you have two exhaust fans.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,396.03 (includes shipping: £13.20)

Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your help, YES that system is pretty much exactly what we are looking for. Ill give them the specs and see if they want to change that drive over as suggested (or anything else for that matter) but I think that is nail on the head type stuff.

Cheers :)

Hi again guys,

Another quick question, the motherboard suggested above doesn't have wifi built in and I think my mate wanted wifi also (I should have said this , sorry), what would be a good alternative MB with wifi close to the Tomahawk price above that would fit the rest of the build?

Cheers,

MSI X570 boards aren't worth buying till you get to their Unify board, though a Tomahawk model is incoming. Would look at Gigabyte or Asus for "budget" X570 if you really need any of the features. Me, I'd get the B450 Pro Carbon if Wifi is needed, it can handle a 12 core if you upgrade, and use any extra money somewhere else to actually improve performance or even better GPU model or get more storage in etc.

Ahh nice one, so that B450 Pro Carbon AC I linked above the X570 is your recommendation then.

Ok brilliant, ill go for that then (and a tenner off too at time of writing). Cheers for your help buddy :)
