Hello there,

My friend is looking a PC that will run BF2/BF2142 but he does not have much to spend ... I speced him this:
Tell me what you think.

Motherboard:
AMD™ Socket 939 - ASUS - A8N-SLi SE

Memory:
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5 (GE1GB3200BHDC) - £93.99 inc VAT

GFX card:
HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ 3 TURBO SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (H195PRQT256DD-R) £129.24 inc VAT [This Week Only]

PSU:
230watts, not sure of the make.
If he needs a new one i was looking at this:
Hiper HPU-4M580 Type R 580W ATX2.2 PSU - Black - £52.86 inc VAT

CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.1 GHz
Heatsink/fan AMD
Socket 939

The rest he already has.
He does not want an amazing PC just you know one to get him by ... just so he can play BF2 and BF2142

Thanks, Adam
:D

That PSU isnt going to run that card. 400W minimum, though you can just about get away with a decent quality 350W.

Its better if you just post the spec with the prices, rather then links (means having to open a window for each item).

Bf2 is much better of 2gb of ram.

So what mobo did you choose, just type the name out.

Steer well clear of Hiper psu's as it will go bang sooner or later. There have been dozens of failures reported on here (mine included) over the past couple of months and sometimes they will also take out other components with them.

Either of these should do the job:-

Enermax Liberty 400W ELT400AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU £46.99 inc vat.

FSP Sparkle Blue Storm 2 400W ATX2.0 PSU £43.36 inc vat.

OCZ ModStream 450w ATX2.2 Power Supply £46.99 inc vat.

Seasonic S12 430W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply£51.69 inc vat.

Anything less then 400W or a bad quality PSU is going to cause system instability.

That would be my may concern with the spec.

So whats the mobo dude?...... the model number is fine.

EDIT: i see your edit.... :D

Good choice.

Tech you specced is outdated somewhat now, but if thats the only thing that fits in the budget, its not a bad kit, could be a lot worse... ;)
