Hi, I am new to this forum and looking for some advice on a new pc. I will literally only use this for gaming, browsing the internet and using Microsoft Office.

I have not really decided on a budget yet but I imagine it will be in the £1,000-1,500 range and I will need a monitor, case...everything basically!

I would appreciate any advice you can give me as I don't know a huge amount about pc's. I have a friend who said he would help me build it (IT technician) as he said it will save me some money on buying a pre-built system.

From reading around, I am looking at getting an overclocked bundle as I have heard the lifespan is fine as long as you stick within the manufacturers temp limits? I would prefer a 27" monitor but if a 24" is better suited I am fine with that. I have also read that an Intel i5 system is preferable to an i7 for gaming purposes?

Anyways, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Edit - should have mentioned I have an old Dell 22" monitor which I will use dual screen to have the net on while I use the new monitor for games

Thanks for the reply tamzzy.

What sort of speed could I overclock the i5-3570k to? Were I too oc would that cooler be up to the job?

I have seen people talking about sealed water coolers (not keen on a full system). Would it be possible to fit one of these in that case?
