Hey

I am years out of the loop on PC hardware now, but I fancy upgrading my current PC which is easily 5-6 years old now.

Whats good these days? Something mid range CPU is fine but I want the GFX to be able to cope with 1440p and down the line 4k.

So say

CPU - I am thinking some kind of Intel I5 or is it worth going to the I7?
Cooler - Custom cooler to lower the noise
RAM - 16 GB?
M/B
GFX - 1070ti or maybe a 1080 if the price is due to drop with the new range coming out?

The rest I will just move from my current build as I moved to SSD's etc etc.

whats your budget and what do you currently have ?

intel prices are steep! and 9th gen inbound today and 19th release date

O mine is years old. I5 2500k 8GB, r280. Newest things in it are the SSD's!

I wouldn't go with the intel released today etc. I am happy to stay a gen behind on the CPU. I have no idea on the AMD side of things and never have.

cheapest thing you can do is second hand i7- overclock it and new GPU- but guessing second hand market might of risen in price since Intel chips have shot up by £100

rzyen 1700 can be picked up for £200 + £89 board and £120 on the ram front for 16gb . if your playing games like BF1/V that like cores then should be a nice upgrade

how much is your budget ?

O sorry defo not second hand. I honestly don't know the budget just need a good spec. So say what ? 1 to 1.5 will that cover it ?

I am running 1440 at the moment with some Dell's. I might go down the I5 route and stick to what I know.

Will post a spec shortly when I get a look so we can compare.

Personally not worth it , rather push ryzen and 1080ti as above :D
Get the 2700x and it auto clocks it's self .

I5 isn't worth £300+ specially when 9600 version is soldered , cooler and hopefully hits 5.3ghz

Although, does come in budget....

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,419.98 (includes shipping: £0.00)

Haha
