Hello.

I'm planning on ordering a new rig next week sometime, I have a £1400 limit. I already have monitors just need a rig plus wireless keyboard/mouse.

I would like something that will keep me playing top end games for a good few years.

Anyone suggest what's worth buying? Also do ocuk build for you (for a price?) or is it even worth purchasing a bundle as long as one is good enough?

Cheers in advance.

That looks fine, though I'd stretch to a 250 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM (go for the Team Elite rather than the Ballistix).

Do note that DX 12 cards will be released later this year

How does the above compare with the one I linked?

Pros:

More cores
Bigger SSD
Bigger mech drive
More RAM
More VRAM (ideal for Xfire and greater resolutions/refresh rate in future)

Cons:

Build fee would need adding
Cooler could do with upgrading to one that can handle more TDP
PSU not capable of SLI/XFire

the gpu is better suited to directx 12

it will be quieter

the x99 cpu is the best all round atm

the psu is ultra efficient and very quiet as well

Can you advise on a better cooler?

Never really used xfire, i assume I'm not really missing out not having it?

Well, if you ever do go for a larger resolution/higher refresh monitor, then adding a second 390X (or whichever card you go for) will provide extra graphics beef if needed. XFire = two or more video cards (AMD). SLI = two or more video cards (Nvidia).

Build fee would push this to £1400, I think.

What you do is post a spec in the Customer Service forum and ask them for a quote.

So does the build you suggest support xfire?

I'm kind of tempted by the idea but then price just goes up further :p

The 850W psu is big enough, and the motherboard supports both Crossfire and SLI.

I would go with the XFX DD Black or Sapphire Nitro over the Asus card though.

You can also save a bit more by going with the R9 390. The 390X isn't a huge deal faster.

The Corsair RMx is also slightly cheaper for an equally good unit. You get a 7 year warranty as well.

As Scotti said, build fee is free till Wednesday, so price actually won't go up after all. And if you are happy with Lee's recommendations, price can go down further (plus you can always get a cheaper case). Note that the Asus has 3 year warranty compared to 2 for XFX and Sapphire.

Ok I'm pretty nailed on just need the boss (the wife) permission to exceed budget as I'm thinking of getting the 500gb ssd as well.

Can you link me the other two graphic cards you mentioned? Which is the best and then I'll go for it!

Cheers.

The XFX is out of stock, but the Sapphire is £20 cheaper anyway at the moment.
