Hey everyone, I was looking for some advice on a pc I was thinking about building. I was hoping to use the system for gaming as well as general web browsing and some school work. I've come up with the current spec for it and was hoping for some comments on whether it would be appropriate for my needs and whether all parts would definitely be compatible. At the moment I already own a Western digital 2.5" hard drive and a copy of Windows 7 home edition and was looking to spend around the £1000 mark if not slightly less. The SSD is not a necessity although it would be nice to have but I am willing to drop it depending on the price of the build. Any help is appreciated many thanks in advance!

CPU: Intel i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
CPU HSF: Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile Blue 8GB 1600MHz DualChannel
GPU: KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
HDD: Western Digital (WD) Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500GB 2.5 inch Internal SATA Hard Drive (already own)
SSD: Crucial m4 128GB 2.5" SATA-IIISolid State Hard Drive
PSU: Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
Case: NZXT Switch 810
OS: Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit (already own)

I should probably add I've never built a pc from scratch before but have had some limited experience replacing parts and fiddling around in PCs I found around the house.
Look forward to any help people can give :)

Hello,

And welcome to the forums.

You seem to have a Corsair theme going, so I would suggest you get a Corsair case.

Perhaps something like,

or

Also, though the HX750 Corsair power supply is a great PSU, have you considered the AX range from them? The AX range are the newer PSU design.

Or this CPU cooler, which had a good review in PC Format this month. A very good review :)

Oh and this motherboard (I always choose Asus motherboards over others).

Thanks for the reply :)
I think the Switch 810 is one of the parts I'm most stubborn on keeping I just think it's an awesome looking case and is apparently very nice to work with.

On the topic of the AX PSU, I only went for the hx due to the greater number of slots which I thought may come in handy were I to add anything in at a later date.

Coolers are what I'd say I'm least clued up on and if the one you linked is better than the A50 then I may be inclined to get that instead I was just going on reviews that people had posted and the A50 seemed to have quite a few positive ones

Once again thanks for the reply :)

Thanks for the reply and the video link it seems pretty useful to a newbie like me
I may have to drop the hdd for the moment (or the ssd) and buy it at a later date as it's probably one of the things I'm safe for at the moment.
I chose the 670 I linked cause I thought the fan design may keep it cooler than other cards as I heard some have rather high temps (not majorly high but I was just going for as cool as possible) but if that will perform the same/better at the same temps then I may have to swap mine for the one you linked especially since they're around the same price.
Again thanks for taking the time to reply :)
