Hi guys, just put together my first ever build, would greatly appreciate it if you could check it for me.

I'm trying to build:
- A powerful gaming rig.
- The ability to upgrade all components (possibly SLI for GPUs) in the future.
- Doesn't need a display, but needs a GPU with a DisplayPort.
- I'm not going to overclock the CPU.

Could you guys perhaps give me a breakdown of how powerful this PC will be?

I'm willing to go up to £850 but would prefer if we could stay at a low price.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £254.99

P.S. I've gone down on the budget from my last thread because I don't want to spend all the money I have saved from doing extra shifts.

Firstly you dont need that awful sound card, the onboard sound from modern audio chips is good.

This frees up some money to change the PSU to a decent quality brand and motherboard.

PSU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-055-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1098
Motherboard - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-170-MS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906

It will be better to get a Retail Blu-Ray drive so you get playback software.

And you can get a Win7+HDD bundle - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SW-000-OP

I'm sure you can fit a 2500K in his budget.

If the Blu-ray is dropped for just DVD only.

Also swapped the case for something better.

But for SLI GTX570 a good 750W PSU is needed.

Thanks guys, while I make the amendments, regarding the Blu-ray player, can I not just get some free software online or could you recommend a better Drive?

Mike

Mike

Theres really no free software, its all about licensing and Cyberlink PowerDVD and the WinDVD got it sewn up and work with all disks.

Ok thank you very much guys,

This is what it's looking like so far:

Any more modifications?

I'm right in saying that inorder to go SLI I'd need a 750w PSU?

Could anyone tell me what sort of performance I'd get out of this?

Thanks,
Mike

Any more modifications?

The GD53 board is much better with better quality components, SLI support, OCgenie (one touch 4.2GHz overclocking)

I'm right in saying that inorder to go SLI I'd need a 750w PSU?

Yes.

Could anyone tell me what sort of performance I'd get out of this?

Max out all games I would imagine at high resolutions.

Cheers Stulid. I'm planning to upgrade over time however. Every year I'll probably buy 2-4 new components.

Even games like Crysis 2 on a 2560x1440 display?

Thanks,
Mike

Well it's not that bad with DX11. At a slightly higher res than I'll be playing at it gets about 23fps on full whack. Not too bad for £800...... Now you make me want to upgrade my GPU. :)

I still recommend getting the GD53 board.

Then leave the build as it is, keep the money for whatever comes in the next couple of years.

I guess I can stretch to this:

So when should I buy it? Should I give it a week or so or impulse it?
