Currently pondering the idea of building a gaming rig as cheap as possible that can still run crysis at high settings. I haven't built a rig since about 5 years ago and have just started getting re aquainted with the current systems.
I can probably get a basic atx case for free and I have a friend who works in marketing for a large memeory supplier so am hoping to get some cheap/free Ram.
From reading a lot of articles on toms hardware I am currently looking at something as follow:
Case - £0
PSU - £50 - any 500W
CPU - +/_£120 Phenomn X3 720 BE
RAM - £0 2gb ddr3
GFX - £110 ATI 4890 1gb
hd - £30 - any old 7200rpm
CD - £0 - one lying around
cooling £50 on any fans, ram sinks etc
I am fairly happy to overclock as have experience with my last P4 setup, don't want anything crazy but I now the 720BE should hit 3.4 fairly easily and will OC the 4890 as best it can.
Given my spec list what is a decent mobo that can facilitate good OC features and is cheap as possible without being crap.
*would probs go up to 6gb ram in future as plan to to video editing over nxt 18mnths.
Cheers for any input guys.
