Hi guys and Gals,
My brother wants me to build him a new PC to replace his accent 1.4Ghz XP Athlon. And although he likes to play games his main muse is the Football Manager series. He wanted to be able to turn ALL of the European leagues on. I tried this on my current rig (C2D E6600 2.4, 2gig ram, 150 raptor and gtx) and was quite surprised at how long it took to generate the whole of europe. I would guess this is more about throughput rather than shear processing/graphics power? I doubt this game is threaded for quad core cpu so would it be a waste of time to go down the Q route?
He would need the lot apart from the OS, RAM since I have some spare almost new never clocked Crucial Ballistix 800Mhz (2x1gig) or does this spoil the performance?, monitor keyboard and mouse.
The budget is around the £600 mark, I got a feeling it may pay to use a conroe and ocerclock over that of getting a new 45nm cpu for shear value for money but I am sure you guys can tell me the error of my ways
My thoughts were along the lines of
