Hey there everyone, this would be my first post, but I am aware of what goes on around here from a length of time reading these forums :)

To get to the point, I'm looking at throwing together a new pc for myself, as my current one is aging and frequently crashing / not booting up due to a plethora of reasons. Upgrading this one further doesn't seem sensible and I'd like a shiny new toy rather than a slightly polished old one ;)

I've already got the monitor and speakers. Not fussed about a sound card, on board will do fine for the moment. I do have a mouse and keyboard (MX700 pack) but both are on their way out, so replacements would be nice.

Aiming for around £700 :)

Cheers guys!

Ah, I forgot to mention I've got a couple of DVD writers I can throw in so I'm okay on that front. A new case would be nice as I (stupidly) bought a thermaltake Soprano, it's horribly plasticy on the front and quite big. The only thing I do like about it is the quick fittings for the drives.

What case would you put that all in? :)

I'll say it as no one else has - Claimed :p

Welcome to the forums :D

Cheers, I'll stick around ;)

i personally would use the lian li v2000, but thats a bit over your budget. a lian li PC7 may be a good choice for your budget if you can go over 700 to get a keyboard and mouse

Cheers for this :) I think I'll go for pretty much what you've got there, with the exception of the graphics card, an extra £3 will get me the BFG overclocked version of the 8800GT ;)

Change HDD to Spinpoint 1TB or 750gb if you're short on budget. 250gb for gaming ? are you crazy ? you know what games weight now ? the minimum is like 8gb for each title ( incomming Age of Conan will take minimum 30gb hdd ).

Also I would change memory for some good 6400 C4.

AND get modular PSU, definitely. I can recommend here TT Toughpower which I've found better than the corsair.

Cheers for the extra input, I've just noticed another £20 has been put on the price of the BFG card now :( I will keep mixing and matching :)

e: would 4GB of the "OCZ PC2-6400C4 800MHz Reaper HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK)" be a good option instead of the G.skill stuff jak suggested?
