Gaming Rig, Red Theme, Ideas & Options please? :)

I still haven't got around to building a new machine yet.
I've toyed with the idea of 4k but I really don't see the point at the moment
I would like to be able to max out games at 1080p 1440p all day long if possible...

GTA V is coming out in January, I would also like the option to play this on max settings...

My general theme I want to go with is red but I can be swayed a little.
It must include a keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers

Budget ideally between £1000-£1500...

I was going to get a Retina 5K and Apple has just messed me around so I've got that amount to play with. what sort of spec could I have that would dominate games for the next 3 years?

would you say that 2 x gtx 970 would be better than 2 x 290x 8GB?
Also, the case doesn't have to be red, I've always had my eye on the Corsair 750D

1440P@144HZ is a lot easier than 4K to run.

SLI GTX970 will eat it up.

Stick with the newer 970s, less power consumption (so can use 750w for two) more Vram.
