Gaming rig spec for these games

My son insists that i7/1060 is what he needs to be able to play these games:
  • Just cause 3
  • ARK: survival evolved
  • Assassins creed black flag
  • Grav
  • H1Z1 king of the kill
  • The forest
  • CS:GO
  • Payday 2
  • Rust
  • Far Cry 4
  • Sniper elite 4
  • Steep
  • Borderlands 2
  • Forza horizon 3
  • Dishonored 2
  • BeamNG drive
  • Killing floor 2
  • Dark souls III
  • Next car game wreck fest
  • Mafia III
  • Rise of the tomb raider
  • The crew
But looking for something that will be powerful enough to play these games and last him, but doesn't cost the earth.
 
I5 is all that's needed, I use an i5 7600k and breezes all games my gpu is a 480. If your going 1060 do not get the 3gb model. 6gb 1060 or rx480 is all that's needed for 1080p gaming
 
Actually there are a lot of games now where i7 is faster.

i7 7700K
ASUS Z270-A
16GB DDR4 3000
2TB WD Caviar black HDD
250GB Samsung 850 EVO
GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 (or if you really want to pimp it 1080Ti)
 
I would say save money and not get i7, the i5 processors are more than capable to run most games at 1080p paired with a decent GPU, Definately consider the RX480
 
Thanks to everyone who replied, the information you gave was helpful, and son is now a happy chappy.
 
I would get a Ryzen processor since they are cheaper than Intels (haven't checked prices recently as Intel might have changed them) plus RX 480 8GB would be enough for 1080p to get Ultra Details in almost all games.
 
Wait for Vega. The rest of the choice is relatively basic, the GPU will dictate most of your frame rates. I'd say am4 and potentially Vega when it arrives, will hopefully be best value. If you want it now, then am4 and 1080 for value sake. And I'd go second hand
