I need feed back before I place my order Monday!

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 940 Black Edition 3.0GHz (Socket AM2+)

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)

Asus M3A78-T AMD 790GX (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-5400C5 Dual Channel Vista Upgrade Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2VU6674GK) (already got this, leftover from a past biuld)

This system will be used for gaming at a res of 1920x1080p

I'm fed up with regretting my impulse buys when it come to PC builds and I don't want to upgrade again for a while except for maybe a 4870x2 used in crossfire, but thats 6 months off.

I know the i7 faster but until mbs come down in price the performance increase is not worth the cash.

Youre better off getting new RAM, its cheap enough atm, you will be fine for gaming at that res on pretty much any game and with most eye candy on, it wont be a problem. whats your actual budget, so can offer better advice

and have you got case/psu etc already? or is that to be included? if you do already have then what psu is it?
Im thinking it would be worth you looking at the new AM3 boards which also support AM2, allows for future upgrade, eg this one

I've looked into DDR3 and I cann't see the point. The best DDR3 CPU I can get is the 810x4 @ 2.6mhz, not as good as the 920x4 3.0mhz BE and there are major issues with AMD and DDR3 (It don't work)

I could get a AMD 2/3 mobo with the option to up grade later but come on, if I need to upgrade my CPU again this side of the decade then I'm going in for a labotomy and buying a PS3.

I've got it on order for Tuesday delivery.
I've got a great deal at £470, the nearest competitor quoted £570.
Mmmmm £100 cash saved, better use it to take her indoors out for a meal Monday and break the news, "I've bought yet another rig".
