I have brought everything apart from the cpu and i get that friday just wanted to know what people thought about this for a gaming pc and what i could expect.

Plan of overclocking the cpu to 4.00ghz ofc

Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366)
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5
Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache
Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case
Cooler Master GX 750W Power Supply
Sony Optiarc DRU-870S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter
Patriot Viper 2 Sector 7 6GB (3x2GB) PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Kit
Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2 High Performance Quiet CPU Cooler

So ye hope thats good.:]

If there price of the 950 does not go down try the 930.

Edit: The 950 is on special this week which ends Tomorrow.

System looks ok.

For a gaming system I think it's fair to say that it's a bit heavy on the CPU and light on the GPU, but at least the platform will last you for a while; you can just keep replacing the graphics card for awhile, rather than upgrade everything.

I am not a fan of that PSU as it shuts down when it gets too hot and tries to deliver 600 watts or more of power. Shouldn't really be a problem for you, but if I was talking to you before you bought anything I would have recommended you got something else.

I think possibly a stronger heatsink would be prudent if you're looking to do such a large overclock.

The GTX 460 should be able to deal with most games at 1080 with high in game settings for year or two.

Basicly the psu came with the case
I only play wow/Css/cs/blackops/sc2

I only normaly play for like a hour each game then there's normaly a break for 10/15 mins so the heat on the psu should be fine and I don't leave my pc on 24/7.

And I probly won't overclock the CPU now anyways so the cooler should be fine

so I guess this spec will smash everygame ATM don't mind about crysis tho lol

if its mainly for gaming maybe go with the i5 760 2.80GHz (LGA1156) and up the graphics card to a 470.

You can even drop down to i5 760 and fit in a 480 on the same budget with the savings on CPU, motherboard and RAM.

Which beats the living hell out of i7 950/nVidia 460 for gaming.

Porcelina is correct. An i5 760 with a 480 would be killer. Although you already have much of the system don't despair you have a great looking system and it will play and more very well. I would maybe look at a different cooler for the cpu for such a high overclock although if you already have this then see what you can push it to safely. Your 460 will max out SC2 and blow those other games out the way. I play SC2 on max with a similar 460. You get very good settings in most cases on wow so enjoy.

There were reviews of the GX 750 at jonnyguru (there used to be two, one got deleted as the site admin decided that the first one was harsh enough on it, the second unit the site received performed even more poorly, altho that's probably like saying that horse manure smells worse than a cow pat - doesn't really make any difference) and hardwaresecrets which will explain it's problems in more detail.

But when jonnyguru tested it with the PSU intaking air that was approximately 40 degrees, the PSU would shut down, presumably because of OTP when trying to deliver 600 watts or more of power.

At the moment when stressing your hardware it would probably not go above 300 watts, so for you to make it shut down you'd probably have to get two power hungry (original Fermi) video cards or two GTX 460s and overclock the CPU, both GPUs, RAM to an extreme level as well as add ten harddrives and somehow use them all at the same time, etc etc.

Still don't like recommending power supplies from that series tho.

Pretty sure I would stay away from the GX range of CoolerMaster PSUs as well. I have not encountered the actual tests before, so cheers for getting them; just a lot of anecdotal data.

However, both the XFX XXX and Antec TruePower PSUs at 650W are looking really good for the price at the moment and are easy recommendations.

i cant downgrade to a i5 760 now anyway as the motherboard iv alredy got wont allow anything other the the i7 but i wont be doing anything hardcore for the psu to use to much watts just play cs/wow/sc2/blackops daily sometimes if not only 1 game that day

If you are using that PSU - I suggest reading this review thoroughly before plugging it in to power your ~£800 worth of prized hardware. I would be much more confident with something like this.

Also, I would suggest going with a different heatsink if you have the option to return it. Here is a review of your current one. Going for something like the Titan Fenrir would be an overall much better cooler.
