This is what I have decided on.

Priorities are to go for max OC with RAID 0 on my raptors:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail - £150

Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £176

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) X2 - £133

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler - £32

TOTAL: £503 all in

to go with:

Raptor 74gb x2 RAID 0
X1900XT ---> 2900XT(X) when its out
Creative audigy 2 Plat Pro
Tagan 480W PSU
Logitech diNovo BT 2.0

What do you guys think?

If your looking for max OC here, maybe best going with the Ballistix PC8500 then clock it up.

The Ballistix PC5300 also clocks amazingly http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-088-CR

People have it running at 1000MHz+

I wouldn't waste money on a Mobo like that at the moment when you can get something like this for half the price :D

I have never had so much trouble selecting a motherboard for the job. Yes the Intel P35 chipset will give me futureproofing (albeit at a cost) but also immense RAID performance (with the Intel controller) and has wifi etc built in. The gigabyte is an old chipset (although no doubt still capable) and yes much cheaper.

Hmm decisions, decisions.

Well i could see this coming. Personally if it was my budget I would go for the older board. Its up to you and your wallet really theres no right/wrong answer.

You could always wait a month or so for ddr3 to come out, so you'll have more money (i assume) and you can have the latest.
