Gaming Server

I have around £600-750 to blow, and cannot think of anything to spend it on. So i thought i'de research servers.. from what i can read..i am totally clueless. I don't really care about the cost, but the server would be used for hosting PC and 360 multiplayer games online, and will hold some LAN events at my house with my friends.

I don't know wether or not a server is need for the above ^^ or should i just get a skulltrail motherboard and put 2 Quad Cores into my current computer, and get dual raptors or something?

And if a server would be suitable for the above ^^ can anyone spec me one up?

Also, i will try and get it set-up as a dedicated server using one of them companies and from there i can rent it out, so i guess it needs to be quite good

Just rent a server yourself then.

But then i dont physically own anything, which is the aim of my mission :d

Screw it, will just plonk a skulltrail and 2 Quads into my pc atm =]
