After some advice on these forums I have selected an 750W psu as I wish to have sli in the future. But can you please advise if I am over or under spending for a decent gaming pc.

I play mostly BF3 and like FPS's, MMORPG's

I have a monitor, Corsair C70 case, GTX660ti graphics card, keyboard, gaming mouse, optical drive, hard drive and operating system already.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £179.99
1 x ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £125.99
1 x Akasa Venom 750w Modular '80 Plus' Power Supply £62.99
1 x Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLT2CP4G3D1869DT2TXOBCEU) (Orange & Blue Activity LEDs) **WORLD FIRST** £49.99
1 x Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/LGA2011/AM2/AM3 £44.99
5 x Akasa AK-FN059 120mm Ultra Quiet Venom Viper Cool Fan - 3/4 Pin £11.99 (£59.95)
Total : £535.88 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Thanks ;)

keep bacons Processor, mboard and PSU

that akasa PSU only has 2 6+2 pin pci-e connectors so if you wanted to sli in future you would need to buy the 2 molex to 6 pin pci-e extensions and thats abit messy.

the cpu coolers if you like the look of the akasa cooler and want to get the case fans aswell to keep an all around yellow look then just go for them. they will do a good job.

Thanks Bacon?

The PSU has confused me then lol, I take it the less Wattage but higher price is because I would be paying for a better quality piece of kit? Is 650W ok for two GPU's then:confused:

I'm certainly impressed with my 'Corsair' case anyway :D

I guess the yellow theme I had going may be under threat to. Was even thinking of the Mushkin Radioactive RAM lol.

It may be 750W but 650W is enough for 660 TI SLI and the Akasa PSU is not as good as make as the Corsair one.

If you want to keep your yellow them then that PSU will be ok. Its not as good as quality as others around but thats not sayings it a rubbish one either ;)

Thanks Dunn2010 :)

I guess I was typing just a little to slow then.

You answered the question as I was thinking of it. Wow :D

Well this is going to be my first build, and I kind of want it to look special. Noob I know! lol

The stock fans I assume are perfectly adequate, otherwise why supply them. It was purely a change for aesthetic reasons. But i'm seeing that it may be best to put my funds elsewhere and perhaps change the fans at a later date.

Winning idea that. what case do you currently have?

scratch that just read original post

I have spent ages on the internet looking at water cooling and the idea of doing it myself does not phase me at all. I just though it was too expensive. But if i'm not replacing perfectly adequate stock fans I will have more money.

Do I go the H100 route or do it myself with a nice little kit :)

One thing i suppose we should ask first is. do you intend on overclocking your cpu?

Well as I understand it, its pretty easy to do with the i5 3570K. But from what I can gather it will have very little impact on my gaming.

My priority is gaming. I would like to use the potential of my GTX660ti now and also have a machine capable of being upgraded in the future for the latest games. The aesthetics side of things is by far less important, but a wish if possible.

The decision is up to you then mate. I can understand the aesthetic side of it. I pimped by case out with 6 Bitfenix spectre blue LED fans. not needed and i could have spent the money on a better cpu fan or even else where on my machine however i just wanted it all to glow blue! :D

if you want it too look the way you want and lets face it! when your spending this amount of money on something you want it to look and feel as good as it plays!

the below cpu stulid suggested above would most likely give a generous stable overclock of 4.5ghz

*correct me if im wrong?

however the akasa one you stated above will do the same and look the way you want.
