hi guys im after a new gaming rig to replace my dead previous quad core system. I dont need any Hard drives, optical drives or a graphics card (have a 5850).

I have around 650-700 to spend on a cpu, psu, case, and mobo.

Thanks

I'm going to assume you want some RAM too:

Case wise, pick whatever you like the look of really providing it has good reviews. That one is nice and comes with the Stulid seal of approval though. :p

will do, do you think its worth going for the 2.88 bloomfield cpu or will the nehalem suffice?

The i7 920 in the above spec is a Bloomfield chip (and a nahalem chip). Bloomfield is the core code name, Nahalem is the micro-architecture.

If you are referring about upgrading to the i7 930 (2.8GHz) then I would suggest sticking with the 920 as apart from the multiplier they are the same chip. Both of these chips are very fast - and at stock the 930 is around 5% faster and costs over £60 more. Also, when overclocked with air cooling both chips max out at the same speeds (as they are thermally limited).

ok cool, thanks for the clarification :D also do you think its worth spending a bit more for the corsair H50 cooler, its just my room gets extreamly dusty and i've had some probs with fans clogging up in the past.
