Is this spec a nice one for a gamer (my nephew)

Antec 902 case
GA-880GMD2H Mobo
AMDII X4 640 CPU
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB PC3-1066 Ram
Geforce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Samsung F3 500GB 16MB Cache HD
Samsung 22x DVDrw
OCUK Crusade 650w Modular PSU
MS Win 7 64bit
MS Sidewinder X4 Keyboard
MS Sidewinder x3 Laser Mouse

He is after an HD TFT too. Approx 23". Can someone recommend one? This one good:

Samsung B2330H 23 inch Widescreen LCD TFT Monitor (1920 x 1080p, 70,000:1, 5ms, DVI-D, HDMI High Gloss Black)

Not sure on budget but would hazard a guess as he wants the best bang for buck, a PC that will play any game thrown at it while keeping the price down. Any help will be great.

I take it he is not overclocking? Probably worth switching that Athlon X4 to a Phenom X4. You probably want to change to a branded PSU (Corsair or OCZ are the most usually recommended on these forums). Also, laser mice are not supposed to be great for gaming.
Sure someone else who knows AMD kit a bit better will help more in a minute...

It would help if you had a ball park figure as some people may reinterpret that. naming no names :)

Change the PSU to something better. PSU is not to be skimped on. have a look at the corsair, xfx or antec ranges.

You could go for a cheaper case to bring price down. But that is down to personal taste overall.

Which gtx 460 did you get? Msi or gigabytes are cool running (wish i had one over my zotac) but the OCUK one will do anyways.

He is not into overclocking. Think the Athlon will be fine? It runs cooler and is cheaper.

Price not mentioned.

Setup good for gaming then?

Spec all looks good, apart from the PSU- as has been mentioned, brand names are a big thing in PSUs. If you want a good modular PSU, check out XFX's 650W model.

If you're after bang-for-buck, the i5 760 provides considerably better performance for the price when compared to the X4. It's a better processor all-round really. The only reason I'd go for the X4 is when budget is limiting you- I'd be tempted to quote an i5 system (ofc with 1156 motherboard) and cut down to X4 if the price is a problem.

well then if he wants it thats no biggy
for psu its not about quantity its about quality :D
the corsair cx430 would power that system fine

Yeah, I would never skimp on PSU! Its really not worth the pennies you save, could go BOOM! (:D - never get to say that) and take out your entire system.
Corsair CX430 would be the one to get.

If you're after the best bang-for-buck then - as Hybrid mentioned, the i5 really is the best bet.
If you can't stretch that far then leave it as it is. PhenomII X4 doesn't really add enough fps increase to be worth the extra £53!

its not the phenom II x4 he has its the athlon II x4. could also save some pennies by going for the 630 instead of the 640.

edit:didnt see the offer on the 640, if your going to buy before offer ends get it if not 630.

Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3

This a good ITX mobo? If so, which CPU guys. I want to use onboard GPU too. Thanks

All look ok and PSU will be powerful enough?

It will be a part xmas present so needs to be right. Just hoping all the components are fine and the PSU up to the job.

He loves PC gaming!!
