I have a budget of around £850 pounds to put together a new base unit already have monitor, peripherals and os etc.

The Components i've picked out are listed below:

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Samsung SH-S203D 20x DVD±RW SATA
Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz (1333FSB)
HIS ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX x2 so 4GB
Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case

Works out nicely at around £851

Just wanted a second opinion or two on this particular spec thanks :p

It is all compatible except for the fact that the Ram requires 2.1v+ to boot and the IP35 supplies 1.8v by default unless it has changed recently, you'll need to set it manually which might or might not be possible without other Ram that can be booted at lower volts depending on how lucky you are.

I can't really fault it apart form what semi-pro waster said, but if you wanted a tad more performance you could swap the 3870X2 for a 9800GTX. Now I only realised that these have come out in the past half hour lol, but from a video review i was watchin it seems to be a little faster than the 3870X2 in pretty much everythin apart from games that use the source engine. I could be wrong about this though as it was only one review. I've not seen any proper results yet.

It's not that much different though by the looks of it, so if you like ati then you might as well stick with it
