Gaming surface/mat

Ok, currently i use my laptop on a table that has a lot of grooves and is uneven so its quite diffcult to use the mouse so i was thinking to get a mouse mat/gaming surface. I found the smallest one on OCUK, however I dont have much space on this table, have a tv on it and my bros laptop + a lot of junk so I was wondering is it ok for like my laptop to rest on the mat aslong as the half with the vent+ fan is free?

I would say get the boogie bug mat its huge and good quality...but its out of stock

The one you linked is nice, especially if you have space issues

Im just worried if i place my laptop on top of some of the mat it could cause some problems.
