Well as the title says, do gaming surfaces help at all?

I'm thinking of getting one as my desk does not like the laser on my G5 (loads of nooks and crannies).

Last of all which is the best (in your opinion) surface for under £20 that is NOT cloth (ie plastic/glass etc).

I got a belkin gel wrist mouse pad and its very comfy and the trackin is ok. I mean theres nowt wrong with cloth if its a good one. Tho i admit them razer ones look well nice. But at the end of the day any surface will do as long as its continuous and flat with no holes or owt like a desk could have.

Nothing beats cloth mate. Get the Everglide Titan for under £20 on OCuk. The soft surface is also much nicer to rest your wrist or arm on than the normal solid surface.

I use the steelpad SS thang. I was highly susicious of them making any difference but now I've actually tried it, they're amazing...Make more difference to my play than my mouse does.

+1, steelpad for the win :)

I'm tempted to get a mouse mat again last person who owned this desk split glue over it so it's covered in lumps :(

if your into fps games online then its a must have item......otherwise just use a baking tray and it wont matter:p

Yeah if you are an FPS gamer it is musty must. Anything from Qpad is awesome. They do brilliant hard surfaces and some awesome clothes. I've currently got a CT and it is brilliant. Had a XTR before that and was also awesome.
Razer do some nice surfaces and the everglides are also awesome. I'd say try and get somewhere that has a few a try them out.

I use an Everglide Titan and I'm not really a serious gamer.
I just like the size, and the material. My wrist can't 'glide' across the shiny desk. :p

thing i have actually found best so far is a tacky birthday gift my mate bought me... was a fair gift in an fairness, laught tho, its a mouse mat with a woman on it and breasts for the coushins :P ill upload a pic asap ;)

^^ ha!

i bought an everglide of some sort about 3 years ago and its lasted well, its got some smooth bits on the surface from lots of mouse movement but that doesn't affect anything in game.

worth the £20 i spent on it.

I was looking at the SS 4D (plastic), the SS Experience I-1 (glass) and the Everglide Titan due to the reviews you guys have given them.

I'd prefer a Glass surface as it would be perfectly flat but i think it would pick up a lot of spillages.

Iused to use paper, then desk but now i use a cheap £1 mat from the local computer store.
I vowed to dismiss my ghetto ways so that scrapped the paper an the reason for the mat over the desk is purely because i was wearing the desk away and its vaneer.

The problem with asking this here is that you'll get answers from people who feel a little silly for having forked out £20 quid for a small square of [insert revolutionary material here] and are trying to convince themselves that it's worth it :p

It's more than worth it ;)

My accuracy increased loads when I bought a decent mat, and that's meant I win a pile more games than I reckon I would have done previously.

Can't really put a price on that, if you're really into your fps's..
