May not be buying this from OcUK ( sorry ) because my father in law can get discounts from certain companies on PC parts, but am also looking to maybe get some parts second hand from MM and other places, so £600(ish) is the most i will pay for all the parts brand new...but will be searching for the parts you mention to see if i can get a good deal on them :)

I have already got:

Mouse - intellimouse explorer 3.0 ( and am very happy with it )
External 100GB Seagate HDD ( for music storage )

And thats about it really so will need everything else monitor, speakers, keyboard and the system itself

PC will be used for gaming ( obviously ) internet, watching films

Have seen that some motherboards have WiFi on them? If these are good motherboards that would be a great feature to have

A nice little 2.1 system would suffice but a 5.1 would be even better if the budget will allow it

Keyboard, just a standard keyboard would be fine, media keys for winamp etc a must though

Monitor, not bothered about something huge obviously because of the budget, but a TFT is preferable

OS - happy with XP, but if you guys recomend i go vista now on a new build more than happy too...either way i need a disk

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-065-AN would like that case :)

Never overclocked anything before, but if you all fell it be neccesary to get the most out of the hardware , fire away im sure there are guides on here about it :)

So guys what can you come up with?

So if you can spec me something around the £600 mark using all new parts, i will then have a look around and see how much i can get knocked off with a cheeky borrowed discount, or buying the parts second hand or if you think a component be really suitable i dont mind this limit going over £600...ill see what you come up with :D

any reasons behind this or is it just because they are cheaper?

want a black monitor really

Would proberly be a good idea to go for a sata hard drive to, why choose IDE when the board supports sata?...

I like the choice of board but can't say i'd agree with some other component choices.

The case - thats a personal preference though
PSU - cheapo, would be just a wise to buy a lower wattage brand name one

Rest looks ok, as obviously you want to stick to budget....

mainly cos they were cheaper but still decent quality and wouldnt affect the setup.

TOTAL - 603.79 incl VAT

Made a couple of changes based on what you guys have suggested

Taken the windows XP disk off as i have now got one, and the keyboard, have found one that will do me over until i can afford a better one :)

Changed the PSU and RAM...anything else you guys can think of?

Ram can be either that or Ballistic PC5300, or Giel PC6400 (if you dont intend to clock).

That spec will perform significantly better because of the tighter ram timings and the CPU won't be bottlenecked waiting for the RAM.

Comes free without a tacky case too :)

Np mates

*looks at spec*

You dropped the ram for slower ram that won't oc so well, you dropped the screen for a worse one, you dropped the PSU for a worse one.

You have to wait 4 to 6 days to order.

*goes to fetch axe*

I can see how much you love that case which is understandable, the antec one isn't the most desirable thing ever. I had one downstairs with a AC7Pro and a E4300 in it being used as a HTPC and it was silent. Buy the case simply for the PSU then upgrade in a few weeks when you can afford it.

Just trying to get the best system for your budget mate. Not meaning to bite your head off :)

i know mate and you're being really helpful

Any particular reason the MB has been changed from the first few drafts?

Not really up on all todays hardware im afriad :(

ALl i did on the other site was to try and match it as close to the one you had put up, i wasnt too happy with it either, but they seem to be mroe for a budget comp instead of a more specialsed one

i wont be buying this RIGHT now anyways, because when we finally come up with an end product im of to MM to find the bits :p

Have added you to MSN mate
